Madden Cards card book in Madden NFL 2004

Madden Cards are digital cards that can be used to give a game player's team a temporary boost, either by specifically increasing a specific player's stats or by modifying the rules of the game. The duration of boost is dependent on whether the card played is bronze, silver or gold. Packs can be purchased using credits obtained during gameplay.

Player-specific cards can only be used if the player is on the player team's roster (even if moved from their designated team).

Madden Cards weren't limited to just boosts but also secret teams, secret stadiums, historic players, and NFL Head Coaches. Historic Players only appeared from Madden 2001 to Madden 2003 while NFL Head Coaches made their first appearance in Madden 2004. Secret teams lasted from Madden NFL 2001 to Madden NFL 2004 and then brought back again for Madden NFL 07 to Madden NFL 09 and then became fantasy challenge unlockables from Madden NFL 10 to Madden NFL 12 on PS2 only. Similarly, the secret stadiums lasted from Madden NFL 2001 til Madden NFL 09 and then becoming fantasy challenge unlockables from Madden NFL 10 to Madden NFL 12 on PS2. The cards themselves in general lasted from Madden 2001 to Madden 09.
