Madden NFL 06 is the 17th installment in the Madden NFL franchise. It released for the original Xbox, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance on August 8, 2005. It was released on the PlayStation Portable system on September 20, 2005, and was the first Madden game released for that system.

It is the first Madden game to be released on a seventh generation home console, the Xbox 360, where it released on November 22, 2005, about a week before the console launched. It is also the first Madden game since Madden NFL 2000 to revert to a 2 digit numbering scheme for its name, however EA material including the game launching videos still refer it to as Madden NFL 2006.

Note: Stadium names are located next to the team name in parentheses.

  • No new stadiums.
  • Pro Player Stadium was renamed into Dolphins Stadium and Network Associates Coliseum was renamed into McAfee Coliseum.

New Features[]

  • QB Vision Control: A feature which simulated Quarterbacks having to look across the field in order to see where to pass the ball.
  • Superstar mode: The sixth generation console versions have the newly introduced Superstar mode allowing Madden NFL players to simulate the career of an NFL player.
