Madden NFL 18 is an American football sports video game based on the National Football League and published by EA Sports for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The cover athlete, chosen by EA, is New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It was released on August 25, 2017. It is the first Madden game since Madden NFL '94 to be available on only two platforms. This was also the return of the Los Angeles Chargers after they relocated back to their home city after the 2016-2017 NFL season.

Servers for the game were closed on March 7, 2023, along with Madden NFL 19.

Note: Stadium names are located next to the team name in parentheses.

  • New stadiums include the StubHub Center and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
  • No stadiums were renamed.

New Features[]

  • Frostbite Engine: Unlike prior Madden NFL games, Madden NFL 18 uses EA's Frostbite game engine which is also used in their other game series such as Battlefield, Need for Speed, FIFA and Star Wars: Battlefront.
  • Longshot: One of the biggest features in Madden NFL 18 is a story mode called Longshot, the first such mode in the series. Longshot follows a quarterback from Mathis, Texas named Devin Wade as he tries to reach his dreams of playing in the NFL. Occasionally in Longshot, you will play Devin's high school and college games in flashbacks and there are also quick-time events and dialog trees, similar to games published by Telltale Games. Every action you make, however, will either negatively or positively affect your scouting report throughout the game.
  • Madden Ultimate Team Squads: Another new feature introduced in Madden NFL 18 are MUT Squads, which are 3 vs. 3 matches with friends (or other online players) against opponents. Each player is either assigned the role of Offensive Captain, Defensive Captain or Head Coach.
