Madden NFL 2001 is a football video game. It is the third in the Madden NFL series to include an NFL player on the box art. It is the first game in the Madden NFL series to appear on the PlayStation 2 game console, and thus the first to release on a sixth generation console. This is the first Madden NFL game to feature NFL Europe teams but was only two weeks shy of the Houston Texans announcement as the logo and colors for the new franchise were unveiled on September 6th, 2000.
