Madden NFL 23 is an American football video game, developed by EA Tiburon and published by Electronic Arts. Based on the National Football League (NFL), it was released on Friday, August 19, 2022. Unlike Madden NFL games starting with Madden NFL 2001 which featured an NFL player on the cover, Madden NFL 23 featured the series' namesake, John Madden, in response to his passing in December 2021. The game was also the first Madden game that reflected the current team name of the Washington Commanders following their previous team names as the Washington Football Team and prior to that, the Washington Redskins.
