Play Action is an offensive concept where the offence will fake a run, and then throw a pass. The concept takes advantage of linebackers and cornerbacks, who may be trying to read the play.

Note: Henceforth, play action will be abbreviated to PA.
The offensive line will do forwards acting like they're blocking for a run, and the wide receivers and tight ends will do the same. The quarterback will run backwards and fake the handoff. Then, the wide receivers will go out for a pass, and the offensive line will drop back for pass blocking.
